Travel by Air
The city of Florence is near the Peretola Airport, which services international carriers such as Lufthansa and Air France. Just 5 km / 3 miles from the city center is the Amerigo Vespucci Airport. There are various transit companies that can accommodate travellers who want to go to the city centre from the Amerigo airport. Another popular way to get to the city is through the city's urban tram called TramVia. Travelling within the city can be done mostly on foot.

Car Parking
Travelling by car through the city is not advised because the city centre is closed to traffic. Only certain taxis, buses, and residents with appropriate car permits are allowed can pass through.
Travel by Trains and Rail
Visitors from Europe and nearby Italian cities can easily get to Florence by train. Trenitalia trains run through the city and from other destinations in Europe. The city's central train station is the Santa Maria Novella Station located near the Piazza del Duomo.
Travel by Buses and Coachl
Travelling by bus to get to the university is highly recommended. Visitors can take any of the buses run by the ATAF and Li-NEA bus company that goes around the city to get to the university. Bus tickets can be bought at local tobacconists. Visitors coming from outside Florence can take the SITA, CAP, Copit, and Lazzi buses that ply long-distance routes in and around Italy.
Travel by Taxi
Within the city, taxis and buses are the main modes of public transportation. Visitors would not have a problem getting taxi rides in Florence. The taxi services available outside the airports can directly transfer travellers to their hotels or to the university.
